Omel athletics was found on the 12th of June 2021 in Gulu Uganda. By an athletics enthusiast Engineer Patrick Bongomin .L. Oloya age 46, a Ugandan born British Citizen. When he personally purchased 12 acres of land for the purposes of creating an Athletics Track & Field ground. The founder’s interest stems from teenage years competing in athletics at London Secondary Schools in London United Kingdom. Further competed at Athletics Club level for Herne Hill Harriers Athletics Club in London United Kingdom in the early 1990s.
The founder found his calling in working with the young people in Uganda. Through his building construction Company (BONGOMIN Support Services), which employed many young adults. And, also donated free School Bags to Primary Schools, and also sponsored Primary Schools field trips.
With the passions in athletics, and the interest working with the young people. The Omel Athletics Club Gulu was found, to nurture young people in the Gulu communities into athletics, of those with no recognition of athletics, and no access to athletics facilities. Also, to provide education and skill training to the uneducated but talented in athletics young persons. For their future physical wellbeing, and good career prospects.
